THE A to Z on how to stress less. 😅

It is a time of change. With this nasty virus cruising the streets, the implementation of social distancing, unemployment and uncertainty, no wonder why everyone's stress meter is off the charts.

Stress is contagious, so it is important we take the time to deal and don't feel guilty for our stress. If we can bring our own stress down a couple of notches we can also help those around us, this is especially important for our little buddies.

Here are a few pointers that work for us to CHILL our vibe.

A). Always take time for yourself, squeezing in 30 minutes per day is a priority. Schedule it. Call in help if you need assistance to make that happen.

B). Be aware of your own stress meter: it’s a stressful time for all. Know when to step back and cool down and know we are all in this together.

C). Concentrate on controlling your own situation, without controlling everybody else. Know what you can’t control and let go of that.

D). Daily exercise will burn off the stress chemicals. If you can’t get out check online and stretch that stress away. @cosmickidsyoga @chrishemsworth @centrefit

E). Eat lots of fresh fruit, veggies, bread and water, give your body the best for it to perform at its best.

F). Forgive others, don't hold grudges and be tolerant -- not everyone is as capable as you.

G). Gratitude: Refocus and be thankful for what you have, it releases dopamines the feel good stuff.

H). Hugs and laughter: Have fun and don't be afraid to share your feelings with others. If stuck on your own hug yourself, give yourself a pedicure, watch a funny movie. Or hug those you are in lock down with, appreciate this moment and hold them close.

I). Information: Verify information from the source before exploding. Focus on facts and only on what you can do in relation to the truth.

J). Judge your own performance realistically; better yet, don’t judge. Don’t set goals out of your own reach.

K). Keep a positive attitude, your outlook will influence outcomes and the way others treat you.

L). Limit alcohol, drugs and other stimulants, they affect your perception and behaviour. Anxiety and too much caffeine don’t mix.

M). Manage money, you can’t avoid it, seek advice from people who know about it and whom you trust. If your situation changes, change your budget. @thebudgetmom

Meditation. Make time to be mindful and in the moment. The more you can do this the better for your mind and body. This got me through pregnancy anxiety and new baby sleep deprivation x 3. @calm

N). No is a word you need to learn to use without feeling guilty. What better time than now to cut down on overcommitment and guilt, as Elsa says "let it goooooo". :)

O). Outdoor: get out how you can, even if it’s in your yard or on your balcony, go for a walk, be safe but when you can look to the sky.

P). Play your favourite music rather than watching television.

Q). Quit smoking: It is stressing your body daily, not to mention killing you too.

R). Relationships: Nurture and enjoy them, learn to listen more and talk less. @houseparty @zoom_video_communications buddies are but a click away.

S). Sleep well, with a firm mattress and a supportive pillow; don't overheat yourself and allow plenty of ventilation. Oversleeping can be as bad as under-sleeping, know your own best rhyth.

T). Treat yourself with things that make you feel good LONG term.

U). Understand things from other peoples point of view.

V). Visualisation, you are more than capable. Believe in yourself.

W). Worry less, it really does not get things completed better or quicker.

X). Xpress: talk and connect to other people, they may be feeling the same way you do. A problem shared is halved and a joy shared is doubled.

Z). Zest for life: Each day is a gift, smile and be thankful that you are a part of the bigger picture.

We all do have stress in our life and it can be a useful vibe that motivates us to do the things we need to. It may sound silly, but, try not to stress about stress, identify it, recognise where it is coming from and use it to make a positive change not only for yourself, but for those special buddies around you.
